Data Bunkers: Going Underground With Cavern Technologies

Bloomberg News has discovered the data bunker phenomenon, characterizing it as a new reaction to securing “the cloud” in response to recent natural disasters. As DCK readers are aware, the trend has been around much longer than that. In this video, Bloomberg’s Richard Falkenrath goes inside a limestone cave 125 feet beneath Lenexa, Kansas to visit with Cavern Technologies, which houses 70 customers in an underground facility. Cavern President John Clune says the facility gains cost benefits from the cool below-ground temperatures, which allow the company to save on cooling costs. This video runs about 2 minutes.
