We absolutely don't know, what is American West (South-West, but more - West). Texas, Arizona, California. It's another mentality, not New England, no relation to Europe and Atlantic civilization. More pragmatic, quiet, effective, no tears. Pacific US - future center of the World, New Mediterranean of XXI century. And we like to think that US is a cultural province of Europe, we used to.
