Полностью поддерживаю SJW. Давно пора комунягу Столлмана раскулачить. Сначала обвинить дементного старикана в сексизме, расизме и антисемитизме, а потом можно будет пустить по статье за child porn, ведь одного взгляда на бородатого достаточно чтобы понять что он педофил, тем более была уже статья что Столлман домагался к студенткам MIT, проплатить пострадавших и можно изнасилование подогнать. Будет в душе негров и мексов из MS-13 веселить рассказами о free as in freedom, а потом мыло уронит...

The blind hatred of Free Software Foundation President
Richard Stallman toward proprietary programs is such that he
has given speeches in which he advocated for software piracy.
Stallman wrote this the day after Steve Jobs died: "As
Chicago Mayor Harold Washington said of the corrupt former
Mayor Daley, 'I'm not glad he's dead, but I'm glad he's
gone.'"

If you were to take that as something a bitter loser would
say, you'd be right. Stallman doesn't believe that programs
should compete on either technical merit or on how much users
like them. To the contrary, his speeches, which you can find
on the FSF Europe website, contain material such as this:

I'm all in favour of the principle that it's good to
reward people who do things that contribute to society
and it's good to punish people, one way or another, if
they do things that harm society. This means that people
who develop Free Software that's useful deserve a reward,
and people who develop proprietary software that's
attractive deserve a punishment.

To Stallman, Jobs must have been a double helping of evil --
both Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) software and hardware must seem
almost sinfully proprietary and attractive to him. Since his
"Boycott Apple" campaign failed, and he can't convince people
to change on technical merit or on the facts, what's left?
How about propaganda? For those of us who had to read 1984 in
school, the head of the Free Software Foundation sounds like
he's channeling the Ministry of Truth. If you remember the
party slogan "Freedom is Slavery," you might find this quote
eerily similar: "It's a mistake to equate freedom to 'the
freedom of choice.'"

Recall how Jobs ended the demonization of Microsoft (Nasdaq:
MSFT) within Apple, got his people to focus on doing what
Apple does best, and ended up with the most valuable company
in the world? Contrast that with Stallman's approach, which
is held by far too many, and helps explain why "GNU/linux" is
still a rounding error in the desktop market.

Negative campaigns turn people away. Nobody wants to hear
about how "evil" their current software provider is. They
want to hear what you can do better. Telling people they
should pirate software not only makes Stallman look seedier
than he already does -- it reflects badly on open source in
general.

There are many *wonderful* leaders on the open source community: Linus
Torvalds, Mark Shuttleworth and Jim Zemlin come to mind. Excellent ideas
and wonderful "faces" for open source.

Stallman is a repulsive, hateful man who does more harm than good to open
source. Why doesn't the herd do the right thing and admit the man is wrong?

Мудак из Редхата по имени Дреппер захватил девелопмент glibc,
всех дико заебал, даже Линуса, и был в результате
со скандалом выпизжен.

Release 2.2.4 of the GNU C library

Stallman recently tried what I would call a hostile takeover of the
glibc development. He tried to conspire behind my back and persuade
the other main developers to take control so that in the end he is in
control and can dictate whatever pleases him. This attempt failed but
he kept on pressuring people everywhere and it got really ugly. In
the end I agreed to the creation of a so-called "steering committee"
(SC). The SC is different from the SC in projects like gcc in that it
does not make decisions. On this front nothing changed. The only
difference is that Stallman now has no right to complain anymore since
the SC he wanted acknowledged the status quo. I hope he will now shut
up forever.

The morale of this is that people will hopefully realize what a
control freak and raging manic Stallman is. Don't trust him. As soon
as something isn't in line with his view he'll stab you in the back.
*NEVER* voluntarily put a project you work on under the GNU umbrella
since this means in Stallman's opinion that he has the right to make
decisions for the project.

The glibc situation is even more frightening if one realizes the story
behind it. When I started porting glibc 1.09 to Linux (which
eventually became glibc 2.0) Stallman threatened me and tried to force
me to contribute rather to the work on the Hurd. Work on Linux would
be counter-productive to the Free Software course. Then came, what
would be called embrace-and-extend if performed by the Evil of the
North-West, and his claim for everything which lead to Linux's
success.

This $&%$& demands everything to be labeled in a way which credits him
and he does not stop before making completely wrong statements like
"its variant". I find this completely unacceptable and can assure
everybody that I consider none of the code I contributed to glibc
(which is quite a lot) to be as part of the GNU project and so a major
part of what Stallman claims credit for is simply going away.

This part has a morale, too, and it is almost the same: don't trust
this person. Read the licenses carefully and rip out parts which give
Stallman any possibility to influence your future.

After years of stagnation, development picked up again in 2015 and 2016, with four releases during these two years.

Иногда у такого бывает интересная послежизнь, наличествовал прекрасный язык Smalltalk (он и сейчас есть, но ультранишевый), кульминировавший в проекте Strongtalk, самый лучший всех на то время, но из-за лицензионных проблем копрорация добра Sun не смогла его использовать, и заменила на Java. Но от него и после смерти было много смысла - гугловская javascript vm очень быстрая в себя всосала его потроха, и недавно на Strongtalk VM сделали очень быструю оптимизирующую виртуальную машину для Lua (LuaJIT).

Или неожиданно оказалось, что интелы (честно) украли Minix у Танненбаума, запроприетали его и сделали из него большого брата внутри каждого интеловского чипсета. Так что это теперь чуть ли не самая размножившаяся OS в мире.

главное, что это не где-нибудь было выложено,
а прямо в glibc 2.2.4 release notes. Столлман вообще святой человек, что 10 лет
его терпел, хотя имел полное право выпиздить нах. Кстати, glibc 2.3-2.6
это был риальне пиздец, самая ебанутая часть тогдашних линуксов, очень страдал
от нее, потому что у меня тогда были пизданутые Mandrake, SUSE и Alt,
и у них при обновлении пакетов первым делом ломался ебаный glibc

gentoo это величайшее достижение линукс-мира, величайшее вообще
потому что dependency hell даже в убунте (которая принудительно
самообновляется) приводит к нахуй сломанной системе, а уж в этих
rpm-based говноподелках просто вел к инвалидности (или
"пришло время переустанавливать шindows", или сиди кукуй со
сломанными пакетами и без компилятора)

Кстати, за последний год (или когда там фаерфоксу понадобился пульсаудио) сколько я сижу на хромиуме - компилируется нормально, ни разу не ломался, что до этого было хз.
Компиляю раз в несколько месяцев.

The mention of ‘init’ clearly refers to systemd, and, since the effect of the patch is especially important when running as root, how it interacts with systemd is a natural concern. However, beyond these obvious facts, the interpretation has depended very much on prior expectations. Some have wondered if Torvalds’ reference was to a recently discovered out-of-bounds bug in systemd, and was a comment on systemd’s code quality.

Other bloggers thought Torvalds was being discrete because Red Hat is a major contributor to his employer the Linux Foundation. Many saw the comment as evidence that Torvalds was opposed to systemd. Asked directly, Torvalds was succinct: “I don’t think I’ve ever criticized systemd. I’ve been very critical of developers who break stuff and then dismiss the breakage or blame others for it.”

In other words, it is the behavior of systemd developers, not systemd itself, that he was referring to — an interpretation that is in keeping with both Torvalds’ general standards and the past interactions between many Linux kernel and systemd developers.

Torvalds’ reservations about systemd came to a head in 2014, when he refused to accept further contributions from Kay Sievers, systemd’s other co-founder. On the Linux Kernel Mailing List, Torvalds told Sievers that he was “tired of the fact that you don’t fix the problems in the code *you* write, so that the kernel then has to work around the problems you cause [….] This has been going on for *years,* and doesn’t seem to be getting any better [….] I am not willing to merge something where the maintainer is known to not care about bugs and regressions and then forces people in other projects to fix their project.”

...But for Torvalds especially, systemd developers have consistently violated the unwritten code that makes interactive development possible, behaving irresponsibly so many times that he is wary of what they might do next.

Здесь рулит бритва Оккама. Линус думает более-менее то что говорит. Ему действительно не очень интересно обсуждать systemd, так как ему не очень интересен юзерленд вообще. Не его забота, типа. А мессианство ему чуждо.
