At MOMA
Mrs. John Heminway and her daughter Hilary admire the art hanging in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Mrs. Heminway wears a blue cotton chambray dress by Mildred Orick and a wide-brim hat by Dobbs; Hilary's similar frock is by Ellen Hewitt. This John Rawlings photograph, which appeared in the April 1, 1948, Vogue, is an early example of modern magazine portraiture, in which the equally fascinating setting and subject vie for the viewer's attention.
College Fashion, 1958
For Vogue's August 15, 1958, College Issue, Santé Forlano shot a fashion story with the headline "What It Takes to Be the New Young Fashion Whiz." Two major trends for the season were plaids and berets, seen in an elegantly youthful combination on these two models who are captured traversing New York City's streets.
Taking a Stroll
Against the grand metropolitan backdrop of New York's Chrysler Building, Santé Forlano captures two models in twin, ladylike looks: pink wool baby doll dresses by Masket Brothers and Virginie of Paris for Haynette, velvet dome hats by Madcaps, and fur muffs by Ingber. The image appeared in the August 15, 1958, Vogue.
