Eastern Echo Builds Seismic Ships Thursday, May 31, 2007 The newly formed, Dubai-based shipping company Eastern Echo is building four ships of the Ulstein SX124 design. These will be the first seismic vessels of Ulstein design and will be built with the Ulstein X-BOW. In total, five shipowners have chosen this new bow concept. ”Ulstein Design is a young ship design company that has gained much interest worldwide. The contracts with Eastern Echo are important for Ulstein Design, as their portfolio also will cover the seismic area. The engineering department of Ulstein Verft are busy in the development of the project, and for Ulstein Elektro these contracts are all-time highest. Salvage Attempt Postponed Friday, June 29, 2007 A second salvage attempt of the Pasha Bulker has been postponed with three towlines now broken. The Pasha Bulker remains firmly embedded in the sand at Nobby's Beach and has been causing salvage crews a lot of grief. Three towlines have snapped, two from tugboats, another from the sea anchor vessel. The ship has been buoyant enough to have rotated slightly and the remaining lines will stay attached to keep it in positon. Hornblower Gets Statue of Liberty Contract Friday, June 29, 2007 Hornblower Yachts will soon begin shuttling tourists to the Statue of Liberty, reports said. The National Park Service has chosen Hornblower Yachts, Inc. to run the ferry concession from lower Manhattan and New Jersey to Liberty and Ellis Island. For more than twenty years, the Statue of Liberty ferries have been run by Circle Line. Hornblower has won a ten-year ferry service concession, expected to begin in October. The company currently runs ferries to the island prison of Alcatraz in San Francisco.
