The young are attracted to the movement with connections to Russian intelligence.

They are Swedish citizens and work in the security control at Arlanda [Stockholm Arlanda airport]. One other person is active in nazi Nordic Resistance Movement.

On the evenings and weekends they put on Russian uniform to train close combat and weapon handling.

DN can today describe how the myth about Russian special forces attracts young Swedish men to a movement with connections to the Russian security service.

A very old close combat technique from Russia, which is used by the Russian special forces "Spetznaz".

So "systems" is marketed - a martial art that is spread by Russian instructors with military background.

Clubs that practice martial arts exist in many places in the world. In Sweden there is a handful.
In Germany the clubs alerted the security service - researchers and experts on Russia pointed out these as a recruitment base for the Russian security services.

Washington Post recently paid attention to the new phenomenon with Russian propaganda targeting young men with interest for military questions and weapons.

DN has investigated one of Swedish clubs that differs from others due to a distinct military style. To be allowed to train "systema" in the club the members must put on the Russian uniform "Gorka" - known as it is worn by soldiers in Russian special forces. On the club's home page there are photos of Russian soldiers, and the members in the club are urged to buy the uniform from a Russian web site whose servers are in Crimea, which is since 2014 is annexed by Russia.

As the members progress in their skills they get the Russian military berets of different colors as a token of their skill level. The club's label is a shield with sword that by shape resembles the emblem which is used by the Soviet security and intelligence service KGB, now FSB.

Systema-clubs having labels and symbols that are connected to Russian security service are common. One of the Russian clubs has for example a bat as symbol - like the military intelligence service GRU's special forces.

The Swedish club that DN has investigated is founded by two men who migrated to Sweden from Russia as children. The men are today between 25 and 30 and both work as airport inspectors at Stockholm Arlanda airport.

DN's investigation shows that at least 6 of the club's active [members] work with security at Arlanda.

When the Systema-club was registered in spring 2015 as a non-profit organization, 8 persons were taking part, according to the administration protocol which is in possession of DN. One of them is a 27-year-old men who is member in the nazi group Nordic Resistance Movement [NRM]. Photos from that anti-racist association Expo shows how the man marches in the first of May demonstration in Borlänge in 2016 with the Resistance movement flag. On the white shirt he bears NMR's member pin.

On the administration protocol in the Systema-club he's got the task of confirming the protocol.

Besides training close combat with knife and weapon, the club has also organized shooting training. Photos on social media show several members with weapon in hands.

On other photos one of founders is with Kalashnikov in his hands and points it to the camera.

On the shooting gallery they use among other things the semi-automatic carabin Ar-15, Glock pistols and hunting rifles. Films show the two Systema-instructors on a shooting gallery in central Sweden dressed in the Gorka-uniform and other Russian military clothes.

Airport inspector work is counted as exercising of public authority. According to Karl Holm, unit chief at the Police legal department, they are commissioned by the police but are employed in private security companies. To be approved, a control of criminal register and the register of suspicious persons is done. Airport control is also a protected object so the security protection law is applied for protection of the national security and against terrorism. Persons who work there shall undergo extra checks and the Security Police shall comment on their suitability.

- One must be loyal to Sweden and Swedish interests, says K. Holm.

One of the founders to the Systema-club has in addition to his work at Arlanda also served in the Swedish armed forces. During 2014 he completed basic military education in a regiment in central Sweden.

One of the members in the club has tattooed a variant of the Russian state coat of arms on his back, the two-headed Russian eagle, in this case with a Russian flag on the emblem. He also works as an Airport controller at Arlanda.

It is the state company Swedavia that runs Arlanda airport and it is responsible for Airport controllers, which are employed by the security company Nokas.

- We are taking this very seriously and have begun a discussion with Nokas, says Hans Uhrus, PR officer at Swedavia

According to H. Uhrus they did not know that the security's involvement in the Systema-club.

Nokas CEO David Larsson said to DN that they started an internal investigation.

- We take this type of information very seriously. Our internal investigation can show if there are any measures to be taken. This can include a new security checks, says D. Larsson.

According to D. Larsson there were no indications of irregularity among the Airport security controllers who are involved in the club.

-These persons have undergone our internal checks and security review. They are checked not just once nut twice. According of all the checks there is nothing that says the opposite, says D. Larsson.

One of the founders to the club said to DN that they have chosen to use Russian uniform to keep the military feeling - something that he hoped shall attract new members.

- We saw that Gorka-uniform is used by the special forces in Russia and it is also suited to be used both outdoors and indoors, and it is water-repellent. This is why we have it as our uniform, he said.

He is familiar with the reports in Germany on that Systema is suspected to be used as recruitment base for the Russian security services. Something he denies.

- This is just absurd. No, there is no such thing that happens, it is just a mockery.

He says that he reason to training with weapon is to create realistic image of how weapon works.

- We train to defend ourselves against pistol, in there is a robbery attempt or someone is trying to kidnap you. If you have never ever known how it sounds when a shot goes off it might affect you psychologically, it can be scary.

- If one just trains with rubber pistol and toys, it gives a false self-confidence, he said.

About the images where he poses with Kalashnikov and points it to the camera he said that the weapon was just a replica.

- It is just extra funny photos which we uploaded, but if one reads through our web pages one sees that it is about self defense.
