Bible can be compared to a pirate logbook. One extremely successful crew, cruising the high seas for generations until they are finally dispersed. Yet they assemble again, with copies.

It is tough, hard to read, extremely intolerant book with utterly criminal characters for heroes and perfectly realistic, intersecting narratives, but with an admix of some poetry in between plunder and rape.
Remember Jael driving tend peg through the skull of Sisera. The whole prehistoric Gulag was shaken by such a cruel, yet perfectly justifiable homicide. Tough top bitch she was, that wiry tent-dwelling Jael. If you think that Bible young girls were nicer, read about Lot daughters.
By the way, most of Jesus apostles are the same tough criminals, street-wise boys, with the same capacity for killing and plunder, slightly softened by Jesus himself. Thinly veiled murder story of Ananias and his wife Sapphira, sprinkled with some Godfather sort of humor is but one example.

Modern era men read Bible in a weird way, totally missing the point of survival in tough environment and moving on despite all odds.
