Now, try continuing the old, traditional Left game: all people are created equal, and African baby is equal in its potential to any white Australian baby. Then, logically, he old Left says is that it is the socioeconomic conditions that make them arrive to vastly different outcomes later in their life. OK. Take bunch of babies from Africa, bring'em to Australia, or bring the young family and their offspring will arrive to the same middle-class suburban lifestyle with barbecues that we all enjoy down under. About 50 years ago this was the mainstream idea. And to certain degree it worked, as soon as Australian immigration was heavily filtered and only the families with proven track record of productive work and good health were allowed, and bonus points were given for good language skills and desirable professions, so that only the cream of the crop was let in. Then of course family reunions would bring not such a creamy individuals in, but the core of immigration remained healthy, productive and eager to settle in the new environment.

Even though the outcomes across the ethnic communities were not exactly equal, but it was of bad taste to point it out.


Now the new Left says: all people are created equal, but White people oppress the rest of the world. The mere act of filtering the immigration is an act of political oppression and cultural domination. Making the young families to study English and to pressure them into the workforce is an act of oppression too, and moreover - it is cultural genocide. Lets bring more disadvantaged people - with no skills, no English, no desire to blend in, and even some with acute dislike for the quiet charm of our bourgeois lifestyle. And something beyond normal good will happen then. Something Godly and morally uplifting. The whole Australian society will be transformed into a much better society, and more - the whole world will be transformed by such a large scale compassionate act. Of course, compassion has its limits, even borrowing from public purse and taxing the future generations is not without boundaries, so compassion is portioned and traded on our behalf by our political elite, the distributors of economic and moral goods, who never forget to make cushy arrangements for themselves first. And of course, the enemies of this morally sound and economically mobilizing distribution system are to be defeated - racists, islamophobes, misogynists, transphobes, alt-right, all these bigoted monsters hiding behind the suburban hedges.
So while the old Left game continues, the new Left game is taking over. The Afro-Australian babies are routinely trashing the Oriental-Australian Airbnbs, while our euro-Australian politicians revel in their multicultural tolerance while fighting the other euro-Australians who are trying to preserve some of the beautiful shrubberies and the overall scenario is becoming vastly different and complicated, as the old Left game is still played in the background, but the new one is taking over our political landscape.

And this is but one illustration of it.
