    Пользование гуглем как повод для подозрений
    История с поддельными документами, должными дискредитировать Буша, продолжается. По ходу дела - любопытный поворот.

    В сегодняшнем Вашингтон Пост - рассказ про экспертов, у которых консультировалась CBS насчет подлинности документа. Одна из экспертов, Эмили Уилл, утверждает, что посылала в CBS пять емейлов с предостережениями о возможной подделке, а представитель CBS говорит, что емейл был только один и несущественный. Но самое замечательное - это последний абзац заметки, где обсуждается, почему CBS решило отказаться от услуг Эмили Уилл:

    CBS began to doubt Will because she started expanding her role and doing Google searches about Bush's whereabouts at the time, said an executive who insisted on anonymity because the network did not want to go beyond the official statements. But Will said she was merely doing research into whether superscript existed in 1972.

    Опасная и сомнительная штука этот гугль. Прежде чем пользоваться им - посоветуйтесь с начальством, разрешено ли вам это делать и не превышаете ли вы своих служебных полномочий. А то мало ли что.

    Awaiting Ivan in the Big Uneasy
    New Orleans Girds For Major Damage

    NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 14 -- Walter Maestri, an emergency manager here in America's most vulnerable metropolitan area, has 10,000 body bags ready in case a major hurricane ever hits New Orleans. As Hurricane Ivan's expected path shifted uncomfortably close to this low-lying urban soup bowl Tuesday, Maestri said he might need a lot more.

    If a strong Category 4 storm such as Ivan made a direct hit, he warned, 50,000 people could drown, and this city of Mardi Gras and jazz could cease to exist.

    "This could be The One," Maestri said in an interview in his underground bunker. "You're talking about the potential loss of a major metropolitan area."
