Keyboardist Stanislav Bobrytskyy, whom we first covered back in Spring, is back, and this time with guitarist Mikhail Paramzin. Like last time, the duo format seems to fit Bobrytskyy well, his playing is intimate and he is a supportive listener unafraid to state his own musical opinions. It is not without some self awareness that the album is entitled Draft Communication. Listening to the track 'Kitchen Talk', you hear the two electric instruments engaged in a dark dialog, the guitar sticks to single note lines and some light extended techniques, while the keyboard weaves sinuously around the somewhat amorphous foundations. 'Beyond C. E. Shannon's Tablecloth' presents a much different sound. Still steeped in deep listening, the two converse in a more tunefully lush manner, the guitar tone still sharp but providing more tonal clusters to contrast with the keyboards. Check it out, like his previous recording, he has it at Bandcamp page for listening and free download.

RX-64R Monosynth style WIP – The ultimate modded 64!( +2 )Mackenzie England, a Digital Arts student at the University of Oregon, turned an old Commodore 64 computer into a fully functional synthesizer. All the knobies, lights, and screen were added on. All of the synthesizer components are hidden away inside.Subatomic's MIDIbox SID is "a DIY a synthesizer with sound chips from the original commodore 64 personal computer from the 1980's. The synth is built into an original Commodore 64 computer case. And features 8 SID chips (4 stereo pairs). Each SID chip has 3 oscillators and a variety of other features like filters, ADSR, ringmod, sync. The synth has a very flexible (and simple to use) modulation matrix, LFO, bassline sequencers, and stores patches in presets."( +1 )This isn’t any old stock C64 either. Subatomicglue embedded 8 SID chips under the covers of this puppy, which lets it generate 4 stereo pairs of sound, and 4 synthesizer “voices” at the same time. The controls expose plenty of flexibility to tune and tweak every nuance of the system’s 8-bit chip sounds, and of course, it can be MIDI controlled for sequencing purposes.( +1 )и чтоб совсем всех добить - Commodore 64 Keytar http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2012/05/20/jeri-ellsworth-her-commodore-64-bass-guitar-thing/без ковра тоже не обошлось: http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2010/02/25/behold-the-commodore-64-keytar/Jordan Bartee has reinvented the keytar – combining a Commodore 64, the MIDIBox SID platform and a MIDI keyboard to create the ultimate Commodore 64 Keytar – the Giana 64. This beast has it all: - 8-bit goodness - Vintage Commodore 64 components - Ghostbusters influenced cyberpunk styling - DIY mojo - Blinky lights by the dozens
"[Ducret] has developed a highly personal musical language that does not bind itself into any genre, as well as a fluidity of ideas and an affinity for adventurous improvisation. In his hands a guitar is much more than a wooden instrument with strings. He has always possessed a rhythmic/percussive attitude, one that is used on "From a Distant Land" and its reprise, ..."A Distant Land," where his plucking and strumming references the percussive sounds of the Japanese koto and West African kora." ( src) "Solo improvisation allows faster decisions, and the building of « bridges » between pieces; it is also an opportunity to re-assemble parts of different pieces in a totally different order, offering a new vision of the same music..." MacLean, Steve & Chris Cutler - Year of the Dragon (ReR, 2012) Очень неоднородный материал: звучание от Art Bear-подобного до электронно-шумового. Chris Cutler: Drums, Percussion [Flotsam] Steve MacLean: Guitar [Guitar/prepared Guitar], Piano, Electronics, Computer [Software Devices], Engineer, Producer Michael Bierylo: Computer [Laptop], Sampler [Samples], Electronics [Circuits] (tracks: 3, 5) Julie Thompson: Voice Current Music: music, prog, rio | 5:54 pm |
Living By Lanterns: New Myth/Old Science (Cuineiform, 2012) ... drummer Mike Reed was given unprecedented access to audition over 700 hours of tape from Sun Ra's El Saturn Audio Archive. Reed subsequently chose a rehearsal tape labeled "NY 1961" for his Loose Assembly quintet to work from. The reel documents Ra, tenor saxophonist John Gilmore and bassist Ronnie Boykins running through a series of rough sketches. Loose Assembly vibraphonist Jason Adasiewicz transposed these skeletal themes into full-bodied arrangements for the quintet, which grew into an all-star nonet over the course of the project. http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=43127#.UTh-PDDOt8FGreg Ward: alto saxophone; Taylor Ho Bynum: cornet; Ingrid Laubrock: tenor saxophone; Tomeka Reid: cello; Mary Halvorson: guitar; Jason Adasiewicz: vibraphone; Joshua Abrams: bass; Tomas Fujiwara: drums; Mike Reed: drums, electronics; Nick Butcher: electronics | 5:53 pm |

generative art и теория струн Calabi Yau algorithm translated into visual art A Calabi–Yau manifold, also known as a Calabi–Yau space, is a special type of manifold that shows up in certain branches of mathematics such as algebraic geometry, as well as in theoretical physics. Particularly in superstring theory, the extra dimensions of spacetime are sometimes conjectured to take the form of a 6-dimensional Calabi–Yau manifold, which led to the idea of mirror symmetry. Calabi–Yau manifolds are complex manifolds that are higher-dimensional analogues of K3 surfaces. They are sometimes defined as compact Kähler manifolds whose canonical bundle is trivial, though many other similar but inequivalent definitions are sometimes used. They were named "Calabi–Yau spaces" by Candelas et al. (1985) after E. Calabi (1954, 1957) who first studied them, and S. T. Yau (1978) who proved the Calabi conjecture that they have Ricci flat metrics.

We start in Kiev with keyboardist Stanislav Bobrytskyy and percussionist Andy Gone's high energy performance at what sounds to be an intimate venue (some clinking glasses and ambient chatter can be detected in the recording). Bobrytskyy is a dynamic and energetic keyboardist who plays with a real vibrancy and urgency. Gone's drumming is a perfect compliment to the colorful and percussive leanings of Bobrytskyy, and together they have a sound that is immediate and melodic. The opening 'Polymer' showcases engaging syncopations and an ever evolving melody. The dramatic penultimate 'Puzzle One' was quite a pleasant surprise. The closing tunes feature Bobrytskyy using a sound and approach that would not have been out of place on a Soft Machine recording circa 1970. These are two musicians I hope to hear more of in the future.
