The primary endpoint will be analyzed using Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) adjusting for covariates that include baseline HbA1c and country or region. The model-adjusted mean change from baseline (Week 0) in HbA1c at Week 12 will be presented for each treatment group. In addition, the treatment difference between each dose of GSK189075 and placebo will be presented.
An investigation of the dose response will also be conducted. Tests for linear, quadratic and cubic trends will be made using orthogonal contrasts. Further details will be provided in the RAP.
Although the study conclusion regarding the primary comparison of interest will be based on analysis in the ITT population with LOCF, the primary efficacy analysis will also be performed on the ITT population without LOCF, and potentially the per-protocol population.
