Interview for SAKURA NAPALM (Tokyo)
Konnichiwa, Glebo
-Sveiki!!

How to say "Hi" in Esperanto?
-Saluton.

Mmm, my guess was something like Hoj or Hej. Anyway, Saluton to you.
-You can use "Hej Hula", lol.

Some swear words or a curse?
-No-no, just a joke idioms of the magnificent zen troll Jan Navratil.

You know what, I did not make it to Lucas Abela' Tokyo performance you recomended to go see last month, my bad, but thanks anyway.
-I made a non-budget gig for JUSTICE YELDHAM in Kaunas in 2009, it was fuckin' awesome. Abela makes noises by a broken piece of window glass, always bloody lips.

Yes, man is a legend and a rowdy bloke indeed. Well, he is a new on my list of great missed gigs. When was your last gig and what line-up and sound it was?
-My own shows did lastly performed in Moscow and St.Petersburg one year ago, supported by a local musicians. We're played chaotic noisecore in Esperanto and alcodelic drone/ambient in Auld Elvish. Very succesful, I like this mini-tour so much.

Sounds great! PICHISMO lathe cut 7" was released specially for this mini tour? Who did this hard job? It is so damn awesome that someone in Russia press (actually cut) the platters using japanese vintage home recorders - 100% DIY! I've checked the label page before, but don't remember a shit, just recall that all releases are super limited.
-Thanx to Bookwar Records who released our live in Moscow in 20 copies. The label owner have a vintage japanese cutting machines to be able make from 7 to 12 inches limited editions, plus tapes also.

Wow, 20 copies only?! And I missed mine for sure...
-All copies sold in month.

Looks like 1 per each weekday, yep.
-Not a miracle, it's a good release.

By the way, how many releases under Pichismo belt? And how many vinyl records out? as SakuraNapalm is anal about the wax haha, I have only 7" on Darbouka.
-I don't calculate last years, more than 60-70 releases I suppoze, all formats, but mostly tapes. If you're interested on vinyl stuff, so only 4 items:
Subita Merdo (Darbouka Records, FRANCE). 7" EP, green vinyl, limited edition: 500 copies. 1998
Terpomo (Bookwar Records, RUSSIA). 7" one-sided lathe-cut 45 RPM, clear plastic, limited edition: 20 copies. 2015
V/A Bullshit Detector 4 (Örmaal Records & Resistance Production, SVITZERLAND; Loony Tunes, UK; Mass Media Records, USA). 2LP. 1994
V/A dhy050 (Dhyana Records, GERMANY). LP & CDR, 300 copies/ CD, 300 copies.

My want-list updated!
-Hard to find, bro.

Yeah, but I've found Vonosonoloppus / 33-х летний подонок split 7" (Darbouka records,1995) in Tokyo, hopefully will have more luck again.
-I have too as a gift from VONOSONOLOPPUS members.

Nice, great band. Now it's time to ask a serious and traditional question for this interview series: why don't you buy records from SakuraNapalm?! You mentioned before that you have a vintage Japanese turntable! You know that you are now on SakuraNapalm INTERVIEW SERIES WITH PEOPLE WHO DO NOT BUY RECORDS FROM uS, right. It's an official tittle bla bla bla.
-Man, I'm unemployed illegal emigrant, poor as church mouse, can't buy cigarette-pack everyday, where you means I take a money for expensive shit like a collectible records?!

No more model posing job? Remember you did some part time at art school or something like that.
-My academy don't works at summer.

Got it. Would love to see these scatches! Awesome I bet. What's about your status in Lithuania? Wtf, Kein mensch ist illegal!
-No money -- no funny. Some bureaucratic difficulties.

Why don't you teach Esperanto? Punk singers classes, lol. You've been the first punk to sing and scream in Esperanto in punk band, right?
-Kaunas is minimal tekno city, lol. Yeah, you're right, PICHISMO is a really first esperantocore band in the world and pioneer of crust in ex-SU countries.

Phenomenal for real! How, where and when did you start studying Esperanto?
-I had a lots of free time during my teenage.

Band was formed at the same time?
-No, on january 1993, I was 20-year old.

And you've started sing in Esperanto at once?
-Yes, the idea was just playing sick Esperanto crap.

Could members actually play instruments or it was just a noise at first? Who was on first line-up?
-We're all young and fuckin' sexy, our first gig sounds like early STALIN. Me - voice, Malthus - guitars, Tarasevich - lead guitars, Dima - bass, Lex - drums. Now usually it's an one-man karaoke circus, but sometimes I invite a proficient friends for help with drums, guitars, trumpets or even go-go corps de ballet.

Hahaha, sure you were! I can imagine, and to me PICHISMO is not less important band than STALIN, no jokes. We've talked about records, punk and all, now please, introduce your kids! I know you are proud parent of two.
-Daughter Anastasija (2007) and son Kiril (2014), plus male dog and female cat.

Are they into music? Aware of papa's music terrorism?
-Nastia studies piano in a music high school, Kiril is too small, but both even were spectators of the scandal underground 8-bit punk show in a squat with a police raid.

Good girl! Wow, what an adventurous childhood and experience so far! Now they know what's good and bad. I only hope that you will take Kiril to music school as well, at least show them both how to play records without scratching them.
-Yes, of corpse, reel-to-reel too.

Dankon for taking part in SakuraNapalm questionnaire, stay punk and good papa!
-Arigato. Hope PICHISMO's discography will continue to grow up. Cheerz!!
