no Windows port of avahi :( (And for that matter, I wanted to leave a comment at http://avahi.org/wiki/GoogleSummerOfCod They write: Port to Windows - Port the Avahi daemon, the avahi client library and the Bonjour compatibility library to native Win32 (no Cygwin please), Why "no Cygwin please"?! I'd be happy if there were a Cygwin port of avahi. (It's better to have something, than the best, but never.) If it worked under Cygwin, then there would exist now a zeroconf "server" for Windows, and it would be a useful thing. But now, there simply exists no zeroconf servers for Windows (that would advertise the services shared by Windows, like printing)! (Bonjour is more like a client, it doesn't start advertising Windows services.) (Upd. Perhaps a can setup some available zeroconf server manually so thta it advertises the shared Windows printer?) |
