Dutch writer will not translate Amanda Gorman's poem after 'uproar' that a white author was selected “I am shocked by the uproar around my involvement in the dissemination of Amanda Gorman’s message, and I understand people who feel hurt by the choice of Meulenhoff to ask me,” said Rijneveld, who writes poetry as well as novels.

(О.Мандельштам, 1906) Current Mood: amusedCurrent Music: Erlkoenig - Erlkoenig 1973 (FULL ALBUM) [KrautRock] | Monday, January 18th, 2021 | 10:21 pm |

Addicted to Proof He is quite famous; at forty, he discovered A law for the distribution of the size Of gaps between consecutive prime numbers, And for this work, he won the Abel Prize.
He teaches well—the students love his classes; His mind seems sound, despite his advanced years, But somehow, his ability in math has, In the course of time, completely disappeared.
So all his friends try to dissuade him gently From announcing he has proved Goldbach was right; His colleagues listen to his talk intently, And laugh at him when he is out of sight.
For the fact is that proof is an addiction, And it doesn’t matter if you’re right or wrong; What matters is the absolute conviction That you’ve found something no one has ever known.https://mobile.twitter.com/petershor1/status/1199299777743204354Well, he'd better not.

Der Eigene Der Eigene was the first gay journal in the world, published from 1896 to 1932 by Adolf Brand in Berlin. Brand contributed many poems and articles; other contributors included writers Benedict Friedlaender, Hanns Heinz Ewers, Erich Mühsam, Kurt Hiller, Ernst Burchard, John Henry Mackay, Theodor Lessing, Klaus Mann, and Thomas Mann, as well as artists Wilhelm von Gloeden, Fidus, and Sascha Schneider. ... The title of the journal, Der Eigene (The Unique), refers to the classic anarchist work Der Einzige und sein Eigentum (1844) by Max Stirner. Early issues reflected the philosophy of Stirner, as well as other views on the politics of anarchism. ... The publisher of Der Eigene had to fight against German censorship. For example, in 1903 a published poem "Die Freundschaft" (The Friendship) provoked a lawsuit against the magazine. The magazine won because the poem was written by Friedrich Schiller. In 1933, when Adolf Hitler rose to power, Adolf Brand's house was searched and all the materials needed to produce the magazine were seized and given to Ernst Röhm. Jännerwein feat. Die Weisse Rose - My Prime Of Youth https://youtu.be/SW7hNe3zpwIMy prime of youth is but a frost of cares, My feast of joy is but a dish of pain, My crop of corn is but a field of tares, And all my good is but vain hope of gain; The day is past, and yet I saw no sun, And now I live, and now my life is done.
My tale was heard and yet it was not told, My fruit is fallen, and yet my leaves are green, My youth is spent and yet I am not old, I saw the world and yet I was not seen; My thread is cut and yet it is not spun, And now I live, and now my life is done.
I sought my death and found it in my womb, I looked for life and saw it was a shade, I trod the earth and knew it was my tomb, And now I die, and now I was but made; My glass is full, and now my glass is run, And now I live, and now my life is done. Carlo Raimondo Michelstaedter Making use of Hegel, Marx and Schopenhauer he develops a thesis to show the violence in organized society, and how man is kept slave, by making use of Hegel's master-slave dialectic (a similar reading of Hegel would be later done by Kojeve), the master gives the slave a right to exist, and thus a right to life for his violence, and that he should want, going after never ending pleasure and needs. Violence against nature which becomes violence against man in organized society with property, this is how Rhetoric is maintained in society, with the atomizing of life starting with laws, humans rights, the exploitation of past labor and money.https://www.rodoni.ch/busoni/bibliotechina/michelstaedter/poesie.html Current Mood: sleepy | Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 | 8:00 pm |
Poetry and pretence: the phoney Native American who fooled Bloomsbury set Sassoon, the famous war poet, spent time in the same psychiatric hospital, Lennel House in Coldstream, Scotland, and promptly fell in love with Prewett. “He was extremely handsome, with these hot brown eyes … he looked like the Italian movie star Rudolph Valentino, and was also a talented poet,” says Porter.
Previously unpublished letters between Prewett and Sassoon, which hint at their sexual relationship and Sassoon’s passionate pursuit of Prewett, are analysed for the first time in the book, which is coming out in July next year. Other letters, from Woolf, war poet Robert Graves and the aristocrat Lady Ottoline Morrell, demonstrate how the British literary elite fetishised Prewett’s “primitive soul”.
After being taken to Garsington Manor, Morrell’s Oxfordshire home, by Sassoon and introduced to some of the Bloomsbury set, Prewett began “playing Native American” in earnest in 1919.
“He appeals to the primitivist ideas of everyone around him. He goes around topless on a horse, looking gorgeous and fulfilling all their fantasies of being a native indigenous person – and using that to get his poems published by Virginia Woolf. And he gets Sassoon and the Morrells to pay for him to go to Oxford to get a degree,” says Porter.
At the time, few members of the British upper classes had ever seen a Native American in the flesh. “He’s meeting the needs of the British elite, who were very into primitives of all sorts. And they believed in beauty, and he was gorgeous,” she adds.Hearing the whine and crash We hastened out And found a few poor men Lying about.
I put my hand in the breast Of the first met. His heart thumped, stopped, and I drew My hand out wet.
Another, he seemed a boy, Rolled in the mud Screaming, "my legs, my legs," And he poured out his blood.
We bandaged the rest And went in, And started again at our cards Where we had been. Current Mood: sleepy |
