| 2:49p | The problem is, they're all in Miami http://piketty.pse.ens.fr/files/HenryTJN THE PRICE OF OFFSHORE REVISITED NEW ESTIMATES FOR MISSING GLOBAL PRIVATE WEALTH, INCOME, INEQUALITY, AND LOST TAXES A significant fraction of global private financial wealth -- by our estimates, at least $21 to $32 trillion as of 2010 -- has been invested virtually tax-free through the worlds still- expanding black hole of more than 80 offshore secrecy jurisdictions. We believe this range to be conservative, for reasons discussed below. Remember: this is just financial wealth. A big share of the real estate, yachts, racehorses, gold bricks -- and many other things that count as non-financial wealth -- are also owned via offshore structures where it is impossible to identify the owners. Since the 1970s, with eager (and often aggressive and illegal) assistance from the international private banking industry, it appears that private elites in this sub-group of 139 countries had accumulated $7.3 to $9.3 trillion of unrecorded offshore wealth in 2010, conservatively estimated, even while many of their public sectors were borrowing themselves into bankruptcy, enduring agonizing structural adjustment and low growth, and holding fire sales of public assets. These same source countries had aggregate gross external debt of $4.08 trillion in 2010. However, once we subtract these countries foreign reserves, most of which are invested in First World securities, their aggregate net external debts were minus $2.8 trillion in 2010. As a U.S. Federal Reserve official observed back in the 1980s: "The real problem is not that these countries don't have any assets. The problem is, they're all in Miami" We have estimated, for example, that less than 100,000 people, .001% of the worlds population, now control over 30 percent of the worlds financial wealth.  Strikingly, more than 20 percent of the worldâs cross-border equities have no identifiable owner. By analyzing these anomalies, I estimate that 8 percent of the global financial wealth of households is held in tax havens, about $7.6 trillion at the end of 2013. Other estimates are generally larger. Based on interviews with wealth managers, the Boston Consulting Group (2014) has an $8.9 trillion figure for 2013. Henry's (2012) estimate is as high as $32 trillion. |

От удара мощной десницей Добра треснет твоя голова всмятку, отвечаю. *** Previous Y-chromosome studies have demonstrated that Ashkenazi Levites, members of a paternally inherited Jewish priestly caste, display a distinctive founder event within R1a, the most prevalent Y-chromosome haplogroup in Eastern Europe. Here we report the analysis of 16 whole R1 sequences and show that a set of 19 unique nucleotide substitutions defines the Ashkenazi R1a lineage. While our survey of one of these, M582, in 2,834 R1a samples reveals its absence in 922 Eastern Europeans, we show it is present in all sampled R1a Ashkenazi Levites, as well as in 33.8% of other R1a Ashkenazi Jewish males and 5.9% of 303 R1a Near Eastern males, where it shows considerably higher diversity. Moreover, the M582 lineage also occurs at low frequencies in non-Ashkenazi Jewish populations. In contrast to the previously suggested Eastern European origin for Ashkenazi Levites, the current data are indicative of a geographic source of the Levite founder lineage in the Near East and its likely presence among pre-Diaspora Hebrews. Haplogroup R1a-M582 was only sporadically observed in Europe, the Diaspora residence of Ashkenazi Jews. Notably, it was not identified among 2,149 samples (including 922 R1a-M198) of non-Jews from East Europe, where the Ashkenazi Jewish community flourished in recent centuries. While the frequency of R1a in the paternal gene pool of Eastern European Slavonic and non-Slavonic peoples reaches as high or higher than 50%, the deeper phylogenetic resolution reported here renders the presumption that similarly high frequencies of R1a among Ashkenazi Levites reflect substantial gene flow or a founder effect from their hosts highly unlikely.
