The anti-immigrant, anti-Islam politician was expected to make big gains in upcoming elections January 23, 2003 Populist party loses in Dutch election. Voters appeared to punish the inexperienced Fortuyn party for the nonstop internal feuding and power struggles that erupted after Fortuyn's death and caused the collapse of the government after just 87 days in office.   |
