Spell of Mastery Progress Many scenarios don't involve base building or have predefined sets of cities.
So I decided to go Hammer of the Gods path and limit the city to foundations.
As opposed to the Master of Magic one.
I.e. limit where player can establish cities and how large they are.
Guess now I will have to rename the game to Odin's Quest.
Since it drifted so far from my original Master of Magic meets XCOM vision.
Foundation places will be of different size, limiting the buildings these can sustain.
Additional I could reserve enough space for the sewer.
The sewer will spawn rats and ratmen (a homage to Majesty lol).
So for a good start I drawn foundation tile.
Next will be decided of what interface to use for building placement.
The idea is that settlement appears and disappears, leaving some archeological rubbish behind.
To make it easier, I have disabled digging for the foundation tiles.
Otherwise implementing it all will be orders of magnitude harder.
Ignore the cryptic brush box names.
These are internal ids.
The final game's version editor will have human readable names.
