Statement by N. Sadkov
My name is N. Sadkov, and I wish to clarify the situation regarding the recent accusations concerning my home and my tenancy with deltaWonen.
I am a transsexual woman. In recent months, I have allowed several friends — three other transsexual women — to temporarily stay at my home. All of them were in vulnerable circumstances. Two of them are refugees from Ukraine who were asked to leave an LGBT shelter after conflicts and bullying. The third is a Russian transsexual woman who felt unsafe in her assigned asylum accommodation due to repeated harassment and has a history of depression and suicidal thoughts.
I offered them a place to stay out of compassion and solidarity, because they had nowhere else to go and needed stability and emotional support. None of them paid rent or used the house for commercial activities. I did not rent out rooms or receive money from anyone for staying here.
Unfortunately, during a visit from deltaWonen and the police, certain private items were found in my home — such as sex toys and personal items — and online profiles associated with adult communities were mentioned. These things were interpreted as evidence of prostitution, but that interpretation is incorrect. These items belong to me and my friends and are related to our private lives as transsexual women, not to any commercial sex work.
I understand that the situation may have looked unusual from the outside, and I regret if neighbours or others felt uncomfortable or misinformed. However, I want to make it clear that no illegal activities took place in my home. The people staying here are my personal friends, and my intention has only been to provide shelter, safety, and compassion to those in need.
I am open to explaining this directly to deltaWonen, the authorities, or the court, and I am fully willing to cooperate to clarify any misunderstandings. I care deeply about being a good tenant and neighbour, and I would like the opportunity to resolve this issue fairly and respectfully.
