Casino
A trans girl I know spent thousands of euros on casinos.
She is an evil and a dumb person, and was a factor in other trans girls ending their lives.
And she also loves Palestine. So I believe she gets karma.

I'm myself really bad with money and economics.
Still recently I got a revelation.
The entire economy works like a casino, where the investors bet using the Martigale strategy.

You may object, that Martigale is guaranteed to work only in the presence of unbound amount of money (not infinite fortunately). And you're of course right! Yet elites can print money on demand. So if their investment failed, they just double on it.

Of course such economy falls apart like a perpetual engine, because printing money creates inflation, so return on investment will be lower than the put effort.

Guess somebody with better math skills than me can model it properly to understand the nuances

Still makes me wonder how it arises in the more general social processes, like the fallacy of sunk costs. You fail at passing a test, and you may eventually succeed, but at much greater costs, which wont be covered by the benefits of test passing, unless it became your entire life's goal.
