Where do I get D&D minis? The cheapest place is American ebay.
Europe simply has no RPG culture.
And the EU board games come with meeples instead of minis.
Frequently ebayers sell large number of minis for $0.5 - $2 per mini.
But delivery from US will be more expensive than the minis themselves.
For example, lot
https://www.ebay.com/itm/136449156450$49.99 for 43 mage knight minis.
These have compatible scale for D&D.
Still with extra luck in EU one can get a D&D:AS game for 20-30 euros.
These cover the most common D&D monsters and the minis are sturdy and survive falling onto the floor.
I've personally got a large lot of loosey Nolzur and D&D miniatures game minis.
200 minis for 0.5 euro mini. And I'm slowly painting through it, selling whatever I don't need.
Hopefully such resale will cover itself.
I personally need just a the monster manual minis, since I plan to stream lets plays of D&D modules.
What really cost me a lot are the paints, since I'm too lazy to mix them myself.
And then I use speed paints for base color, and the are extra expensive.
And I'm using cheaper Army Painter, instead of official Wizkids D&D Vallejo paints.
Because Vallejo is like 2x more expensive.
But yeah, the old school way to do it is printing standees on a library printer.
