1) Identity and culture are fairy tales similar to Tolkien writings, not based in any daily life relevant experience, but rather passed as word of mouth among the followers . Especially so in the modern world, because there are so much of identities and cultures competing, its historically unprecedented.
2) kirk and fanboys are not nearly supporting technological advancement and intergalactic civilization. They are rooting for return to medieval times where there was only one dominant culture and way to live. This is backwards movement and must be eradicated, especially so because it leads to collateral damage like dead women .

Sustainability is a word that have been inflated meaning nowadays, but in original meaning -- ability of a system to reproduce itself -- it is as backwards as stoning of gay ppl. System is always broken and always begging for a fix in a next iteration where ppl will account for the past mistakes. It is always a flux but it can go either forward or backwards not both.
