Как я вам недавно рассказывал, написал я сенаторам гневное письмо. Разгневала меня весть, что хотят ещё больше поднять такс на сигареты. Конечно, такс всё равно подняли, но зато я получил письмо от сенатора США Боба Коркера.

Dear Mr. Sovok4ever,
Thank you for taking the time to contact my office to share your concerns about raising the federal excise tax on tobacco products. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.
On March 23, 2007, Senator Gordon Smith presented an amendment to the concurrent budget resolution for FY08. This amendment would have amended the budget resolution for the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) allowing for an increase on the Federal excise tax on tobacco and use of the proceeds exclusively for SCHIP. I voted against this amendment, but it passed 59-40. However, this amendment was not included in the final budget resolution. As we continue through the appropriations process, I will definitely take your concerns into consideration as I closely examine all the proposals dealing with raising the excise tax on tobacco products.
Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me over the next six years.
