![[User Picture]](http://lj.rossia.org/userpic/83573/2283) [Link] | A long (2 hours) program on Pirate Cat radio with Jello Biafra in the studio. A lot of fluff, and a lot of California and SF-specific issues. But there's a very important part starting about 1:47:00
"OK, we are anti-abortion, therefore we are pro-life, even though we don't give a damn what happens to that child once they are born. We ain't gonna give them money for school, or let the single mom stay home with the kid and get a welfare check, we are happy to put them in prison and kill them in the war, otherwise - fuck you. We don't care about your life at all and, boy, do we love the death penalty and wars and that's why we are pro-life. And hey, we are patriotic, because we love it when the Constitution is burned on the bonfire, oh that's so patriotic."
People who say they love family values - they hate kids. They absolutely hate kids, especially poor kids. Once they are born, they just want them, well, maybe not exterminated, but at least put into crappy schools and then sent to jail.

Biafra with the Melvins The club was packed - the show was sold out, I had to buy a ticket from a stranger. First there was a local hardcore band called Mouth Sewn Shut or something like that. They were OK - I mean, if you like hardcore, you'd probably like them, and if you don't, they couldn't make you like it.
The Melvins were terrible - they started with what felt like 20 minute noise. If this piece wasn't called "The Process of Weeding Out", it should've. After that, they proceeded playing slow stoned and heavy rock for an hour or so. It was bad, really bad.
However, finally they ended their own set and put on ninja masks. Like a Jack-in-the-box, Biafra jumped on stage wearing a white lab coat and latex gloves and starts singing the first song (I think it was "Plethysmograph", but am not sure). After the song he takes off his lab coat showing his patriotic stars-n-stripes-of-corruption shirt. The gloves are thrown into the mosh pit. Quick political speech, couple stabs at John Kerry - and they launch into "When you get drafted". Funny how the 25-year-old Dead Kennedys' songs are as relevant now as they were then - the whole crowd sings along. Biafra starts clowning, portraying enourmous biceps and smallish dick - and starts the reworked "California Uber Alles" with "I'm a governor Schwarzenegger!" Again, all he needed to change in this song was replace "suede denim secret police" with "homeland security police". While singing the refrain, Biafra shows how Ahnold's arm stretches into Nazi salute, makes a surprised face, and tries to take it away. Lots more of new songs (including "Yuppie Cadillac", which was prefaced by an anti-SUV chat with the crowd), a menacing rendition of "Chemical Warfare"... At some point he takes off the flag-colored shirt, and stays in a T-shirt depicting a US bomber that has "Democracy... We Deliver" written on it. Overall, Biafra is a great performer - in a cartoonish, clownish way, but a great clown nonetheless. He attempts crowd surfing more than once, but the Middle East security guys pull him out every time. More spoken word pieces about John Kerry and Abu-Ghraib, several more new songs, and they walk out. Come back for encore, sing a new song titled (I think) "Rock-n-roll McDonald's", Biafra takes off his shirt and end the evening with a powerful version of "Holiday in Cambodia". Obviously, in the end of the song "Pol Pot" is replaced with "George Bush". That ends up the evening with a buzz in my ears and a warm and fuzzy feeling that I did get to see The Man.
