AMD Bundles Together Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and AMD FX CPUs

Buying new hardware is almost always exciting, and purchases are even sweeter when they come with included gifts. In spirit of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided receiving DX12 support in the coming weeks AMD is bundling the game with select AMD FX CPU’s through participating retailers.

The Deus Ex series has been well revered since its inception. The breadth of player choice, storytelling, and player customization was a big step in gaming, and the original Deus Ex is still regarded by many as the best PC game ever made. With varying degrees of success, the series has continued to find success in the same formula started back in 2000.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided follows the aftermath of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and continues the social commentary on human augmentation. Following the golden era of human augmentation augmented humans are being deemed outcasts and separated from the rest of society. From this backdrop the player continues as Adam Jensen, now an experienced covert agent, with the intent to unravel the building conspiracy against mankind.

Starting this week, AMD is providing bundles with participating vendors on select 6- and 8- core FX processors. The purpose behind this bundle - besides clearing out FX inventory, I suspect - is to further promote DirectX 12, albeit in a roundabout fashion. In the coming weeks Mankind Divided will be receiving a patch that will enable DX12 support. With DX12 the game will have better multi-threading support for large core count CPUs. Given the relatively weak single-threaded performance of AMD's CPUs, this should help these CPUs close the performance gap.

Anyhow, you’ll want to check with your retailer before purchase, but Newegg and the rest of the usual suspects should be participating. While looking around on Newegg I noticed that not all FX CPUs are listed as participating, so vigilance is advised before purchase even at participating retailers. The promotion will run from August 23, 2016 to November 14, 2016 or until game codes run out, whichever comes first.

Those wishing to read more on Deus Ex: Mankind provided, find a vendor, or redeem their code can do so at the AMD Deus Ex: Mankind provided promotion page.
