Microsoft's Sales Get Azure Boost; Tax Charge Leads to Net Loss (FB) Microsoft Corp. topped analysts’ estimates for second-quarter revenue, helped by brisk quarterly growth in its cloud and corporate-software businesses, while a tax charge caused the company to report a net loss. The software maker said it had a $13.8 billion charge related to taxes owed on overseas cash, a result of recent changes to U.S. tax law. Sales of Azure cloud-computing services almost doubled as businesses increasingly seek to run applications and store data in Microsoft’s data centers. | 12:30a |

Data Center Construction Ramping Up in Chicago Area (FB) Tight supply-high demand has been a running theme in top US data center markets in recent years. Supply has been especially tight in Chicago, but that’s about to change. Numerous new construction projects kicked off last year, and January saw news of several more that are in the works. New developments that came to light this month include the announcement by Dallas-based Stream Data Centers of a project to construct a 15MW data center in Elk Grove Village, a Chicago suburb with the highest concentration of data centers. Additionally, Brennan Investment Group, a real estate company based in the area, announced last week that it has bought a sprawling piece of land where it plans to develop the future Elk Grove Technology Park, expecting a large portion of the park to be taken up by data centers. RagingWire recently acquired a 19-acre site in neighboring Itasca, the property’s seller told Crain’s Chicago Business. | 12:36a |

In essence, it's the same software used to power K2: the VisionOS software operating platform and Clarity. Later this year, Flex will be added.
