    US Department of Homeland Security said it has no reason to question denials by US tech companies of a report that Chinese spies had used a microchip to hack into American networks
    • Bloomberg reported Thursday that spies had covertly planted chips that could help them take over protected systems onto Super Micro motherboards destined for data centers of at least 30 US companies, including Amazon's and Apple's
    • Super Micro, Apple, and Amazon have strongly disputed the report, saying all its central claims were false
    • The infiltration was investigated as part of an FBI probe, which DHS may not have been involved in, according to Bloomberg;s sources
