UNRWA: Countries Halt Funding to UN Agency in Gaza. | Several key donor countries to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Saturday they would halt their funding, following accusations by Israel that several UNRWA staff were involved in Hamas's October 7 attack. UNRWA has fired several staff over Israel's accusations, promising a thorough investigation into the claims, which were not specified. Israel has vowed to stop the agency's work in Gaza after the war. submitted by /u/midianightx [link] [comments]

Illustration of Genocide | This map from Martin Gilbert’s Atlas of the Holocaust shows death tolls from genocide - the deliberate extermination of a civilian population - in Poland in less than two weeks in August 1942. There were no military actions going on and only desperate individual resistance that universally failed. This land had been occupied and subjugated in 1939 and some parts in 1941. The total Jewish population of Poland was 3.4 million in 1939. These two weeks were typical for Summer 1942 in Poland. It does not include deaths in the Soviet Union or deportations from Germany or Western Europe at the same time. Add up the numbers and then consider, again, this was just two weeks. submitted by /u/LandscapeOld2145 [link] [comments]
