My current fixation is agricultural properties which just happen to be in the municipal boundaries of major cities | Wonder what it's like owning farmland that's not only just in a metro area, but actually in the jurisdiction of said area's core city. submitted by /u/ArtReasonable2437 [link] [comments]

World traffic, colonies and merchant fleets in 1913 German world atlas | I acquired this huge (the map is 56 cm × 44 cm) 1913 world atlas from the court library of a former Hanseatic city's regional court a few years ago - it was to be disposed, so I had to save it. This double page shows the world traffic, colonies and merchant fleets. The big map shows the trade routes. For the sea routes, it is indicated wether it was a steam or sailing ship route, the frequency of voyages and the number of days the route typically took (“Tage“ means “days“ in German, therefore the abbreviation “T“). The three small maps show railways and telegraph lines, the usual means of transport and the spread of the most important lingua franca. The boxes in the middle show a Size comparison of the colonial states and their possessions (left) and the gross tonnage of the major merchant fleets in the years 1910/11 (right). submitted by /u/OrangUtanClause [link] [comments]

North Carolina is the only state, contiguous or otherwise, not currently experiencing some form of drought. FL, AK, and KY are largely free of drought, too. |

What country is the arrows pointing at? | I was drawing the borders of the states in the German Confederation, when i noticed something. This being the land the arrows were highlighting. Today, this land is part of the state of Hamburg in modern Germany, and corresponds to the land around the city of Bergedorf. But when i looked at the map of the states of the German Empire, it’s a part of Hamburg. Also, these maps are used to highlight a specific state, so the only changes i did was poorly filling in (hence why Neuchâtel is highlited, because i did a bad job) and marking the land im talking about. Is this an error, was it its own country, or was it part of another state such as Lübeck? submitted by /u/Wintertheskeleton [link] [comments]
