The world according to my 3PM boredom. | So how’d I do drawing the world map on my coffee cup during a long afternoon meeting? Some observations: I totally missed Belarus and completely misjudged North Africa and central Saharan Africa. But I’m honestly proud - I included The Gambia and Andorra, North and South America ok. Highest continent grade is probably Australia? submitted by /u/Zaccarious [link] [comments]

Polish map from 1976 depicting the start of WW2 and "subtly" trying to minimise Soviet involvement | I think this map is very interesting because it has been made at a time where it was obviously uncalled for to criticise the Soviet Union too openly, yet they couldn't just straight up lie and pretend nothing happened. submitted by /u/Rigolol2021 [link] [comments]

Europe seems to be more united than ever. 74% of EU citizens think that their country benefits from EU membership, the best result ever recorded since this question was first asked in 1983. |

Electricity Generation Capacity (MW) by Countries. Data Source: Global Energy Monitor | A few days ago I saw a post about the main source of energy per country. And I think it had some imperfections. Therefore, I have tried to generate a slightly more accurate map. The data has been calculated based on the sum of electricity generation capacitybof operating Centrals by plant type. The source of the data is Global Energy Monitor. The choropleths represent the countries that generate the most electricity (increasing the carbon footprint). Choropleths are classified into Jerks breaks. The diagrams represent colours that I hope you understand well, according to the source of electricity generation. As for Nuclear, I have used the characteristic ‘green’ colour associated with it (thanks Simpsons), although it is NOT a Green energy as much as the imperialist countries would like to make it believe (its impact of mineral extraction is too high, and it does not take into account the degree of scope 3 of Environmental Impact affections to be considered Green). The projection used is Albert because I wanted to generate a map in one of my favourite projections. The data processing and the creation of the map has been carried out by QGIS. I hope you like the maps, I've only tried to be as faithful to the input data as possible and draw some cool maps. These aren't maps for articles.
