HDI ranking changes since the first report in 1990. | Turkey is the country that improved the most, from 87th to 45th. China is the second, going from 110th to 75th Ukraine is the one that worsened the most relative to other countries, from 38th to 100th, followed by Jamaica, Namibia and Venezuela. The US held the 1st place from 1990-1996. Since then, declined mostly thanks to a lagging life expectancy. Canada and Australia were 2nd and 3rd in 1990 and also declined. submitted by /u/Franzisquin [link] [comments]

Geography of the NHL Is Crazy | The way the NHL is laid out is incredibly nuts (and due to population mostly). 13 teams in the NHL exist within one tiny geographical area consisting of 6 US states, 2 Canadian provinces, and DC. The entire eastern conference exists in one time zone whereas the western conference covers the remaining three. 6 states/provinces contain 14 of 32 teams. What this map doesn't show either is within Alberta, Edmonton and Calgary are only 3 hours apart (nearly due north/south of each other) and Toronto and Ottawa are only four hours apart, so it's not like they cover massive regions in these Canadian provinces either. submitted by /u/AdVegetable7181 [link] [comments]

1872 United States Presidential Election | From Wikipedia: Presidential election results map. Red denotes states won by Grant/Wilson (Republican). Other colors (except gray) denote states won by Greeley/Brown (Liberal Republican and Democratic). The different colors reflect the posthumous scattering of Greeley's electoral votes: purple denotes Electoral College votes won by Greeley, blue denotes those won by Thomas A. Hendricks, pink denotes those won by Benjamin Gratz Brown, green denotes those won by Charles J. Jenkins, and dark red denotes those won by David Davis). Numbers indicate the number of electoral votes allotted to each state. submitted by /u/CreeperRussS [link] [comments]
