Map of Communism between 1979-1983 | Specifically, around 1980 to 1983, was a peak moment for communism (due to the Cold War), where the influence of Marxist-Leninist, Maoist, and other socialist regimes was strongly felt across multiple continents. It includes Communist, Socialist, Occupied Regions (Although after 1979, Afghanistan was reclaimed, many socialist groups, and slight occupation in the North still existed; anyhow, I included it entirely), socialist groups in democratic regions, and anarcho-communist. Data for Afghanistan, South America, and Western Europe may not be entirely accurate. submitted by /u/TecSawz_ [link] [comments]

Here’s my new illustrated map of Mesopotamia, with city-states, gods, and notes to show their historical context. I’d love to hear your thoughts or suggestions for improvement! | Ancient Mesopotamia – City-States and Deities This hand-drawn map explores the ancient cities and gods of Mesopotamia, from Uruk to Babylon. Though not all coexisted in time, each location is marked with timeline cues and short notes to show their place in history. Key deities like Enki, Inanna, and Marduk are also illustrated. A visual tribute to the world’s first civilization. submitted by /u/qpiii [link] [comments]

This map from the MSFS showing air fields and helicopter landing sites may happen to show a Russian natural gas pipeline | This is from the current Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The white dotted line going from the north of Moscow to the Kara Sea is almost all small helicopter landing pads, next to a trench cut into the woods. I can't see any overhead power lines on satellite photos, just a kind of access port station every ~50 km submitted by /u/Acc87 [link] [comments]

Plastic and paper bag legislation in the U.S. | Additional comments: Hawaii is labeled as “plastic bag ban,” but there is no statewide legislation. Instead, all counties in the state have issued a plastic bag ban, which in effect covers the entire state. New Jersey has the strictest ban in the nation, not only are plastic bags banned in virtually all cases, but paper bags are also banned in most retail establishments (supermarkets above 2,500 square feet). Additionally, single-use polystyrene foam is banned statewide and plastic straws are available upon request only. Some cities in Texas had plastic bag bans, but they were overturned by the Texas Supreme Court in 2018 Some counties in North Carolina had a plastic bag ban, but they were overturned by the state government in 2017. Many states in gray on the map have state legislation that prevents municipalities or counties from adopting these types of measures (state preemption). I only colored in red the states that specifically overturned existing municipal or county ordinances. Washington, D.C. has a plastic bag fee submitted by /u/theexpertgamer1 [link] [comments]
