Elevation map of the Tibetan plateau | I created this visualization with Rayshader, ggplot2 and Adobe Illustrator. The data comes from WorldClim v2.1. It's part of an article called Rivers are now battlefields, which is about the geopolitics of dams and how desalination can change that. submitted by /u/salonium_ [link] [comments]

Fort Wayne, IN - centrality to major cities | I can't think of anywhere else that is so central to several major cities. Any other suggestions (even if they're not as much so), like: - Waco, TX
- New Haven, CT
- Fresno, CA
- Lakeland, FL

The UK's Historical Freedom of Movement Regimes | Slightly corrected after the initial post pointed out soem errors. Some comments on the initial post asked about South Africa and certain British Colonies South Africa left the British Commonwealth in 1961 and this map reflects what nations had freedom of movement with the UK upon the date the UK started restricting it in 1962 Brunei, Botswana, Oman, the Gulf States, and so on were Protectorates and thus didn't qualify for freedom of movement with the UK prior to 1962 as that privilege was only for Dominions, Crown Colonies, and Fully Independent Nations that were members of the British Commonthwealth (I.E. Ghana, Nigeria, India) Interestingly enough Cyprus and Malta have the distinction of being the only two countries to have lost freedom of movement with the UK twice as they were British Crown Colonies and had freedom of movement until 1962, and then regained it in 2004 upon joining the EU and lost it with Brexit in 2020 submitted by /u/JosedeNueces [link] [comments]
