Alt Track are a two piece post-rock/electronic outfit from West Yorkshire. Their live set shifts sporadically between intense build ups to crashing climaxes, self-described ‘harsh tasty beats’ with fat bass sounds and drums, and other trancey moments from wailing synth lines and delayed piano melodies.

The band take influence from such pioneers as Radiohead, Infected Mushroom, Saul Williams, Rage against the Machine, Fugazi, Muse, 65daysofstatic and A Silver Mt. Zion.

alt track was formed in the summer of 2007, wherein both members, Michael Dey (ex Deed Poll) and Pete Williams (ex Filament) joined to write the music they felt they should be performing, but had been tied to other musical projects for such an extensive period of time.

Since beginning to perform in July 2007, the band have become well known around the UK as a truly exciting live experience. Respected highly for the sheer quantity of gigs played in such a short space of time, the band have said that they absolutely love playing live, where all of the buzz, energy and tension of the songs can be heard most strongly.

In 2008, the band released their debut EP ‘a nation is on fire’, which was self-produced, self-funded and self-released. An initial run of 100 CD’s were printed, and sold out within a month, with half of all money going directly to human rights campaigners ‘Amnesty International’.

The band’s political influence is highly predominant within their lyrics. Both members are strong supporters of human right moments, anti war campaigns, and are most focused upon the ‘Free Tibet’ campaign, with a Tibetan flag being hung from keyboard stands at most gigs to show silent protest against the injustices taking place across the world.
