I read today in a couple of places that 23 million Americans say they are suffering from long Covid disabilities. That is a self-report, and some may be mistaken about what their problem is. But it is good enough for a rough estimate. But it gives a rough idea. ISTR seeing the estimate that around 200 million Americans have had Covid-19, including asymptomatic infections. That means the chance that an infection leaves a lasting disability in its wake is roughly 10%. That is a very high risk. High enough to justify going to great lengths to avoid getting a Covid infection. I have no particular vulnerabilities to Covid-19 other than being 69 years old and somewhat overweight.
