Federal law override abortion bans
Secretary Becerra says that federal law overrides state abortion bans
when an abortion is needed for a medical emergency.
This will remove the most dangerous aspect of those bans — if the
fanatics on the Supreme Court do not invent an excuse to strike it
down. It is hard to be confident that there is a limit they respect. |

Nearly $2tn damage inflicted by US
*Nearly $2tn of damage inflicted on other countries by [past] US
[greenhouse gas] emissions.*
I think that how we cut down emissions is more important than who

Private lenders must ease Africa's crippling debt
*West must force private lenders to ease Africa's crippling debt, say

Elon Musk wants big families
*Elon Musk wants everyone to have big families like him — but who's
going to pay for them?*
It is rational to choose not to have children because raising them is
so expensive. But if that is the main thing that convinces people
to avoid having children, then survival of civilization will depend
on making the children of poor people grow up in poverty.
We need people to be even more rational, and choose not to have children
because the world can't support them.
Plus, it's dangerous and painful, etc. |

Biden's Secretary of Veterans Affairs wants to close facilities and
outsource services.
Outsourcing means the workers are paid less and the work has no
accountability to the public. |
