Republicans in Congress are harassing researchers who study disinformation
practices, with
investigations of made-up crimes.
One must suspect that Republicans are aware that their party lives on
disinformation, and consider these researchers a danger to that.

Britons voted for Bogus Johnson
knowing he was a liar.
This awareness was so thoroughly spread that even I knew
that "Bogus" was the correct name for him. It seems that he has
a superficial charm that motivates many Britons to like him even as
he lies to them.
The bullshitter, in the US, has a superficially different approach and
tells very different of lies, but I am sure the two careers are
fundamentally similar.
