Ties as anachronistic
Robert Reich sees a sign that the pressure to wear a tie may soon fade
away: Biden appeared in public with Obama and Bill Clinton,
none of
them wearing a tie.
It is not impossible; I've read that President Kennedy freed
American men from the demand to wear hats by refusing to wear
one himself. Thanks perhaps to him, no one has ever tried
to pressure me to wear one.
Ironically, this winter I started wearing a hat sometimes, but I don't
treat it as an obligation: I simply do what feels comfortable based on
the weather.
As for ties, however, I reject them actively, firmly.
