    Time Event
    12:26a
    Dangerous Donald shifting sanctions

The persecutor wrecker lifted the US sanctions on violent Israeli extremists who carry out pogroms against Palestinians, and revived sanctions against the International Criminal Court.

When he said that he wanted to be a "peacemaker", maybe it means that he wants to make deserts and call them "peace".

How climate activism has been criminalized

*From the US to Uganda, how climate activism has been criminalized in 2024.*

After the Democrats have joined up for repression of climate defense while somewhat in power, we can't expect them to do much to defend against what the billionaires' vassals will try to do.

    Fluff on high prices, tariffs

The bullshitter claims to have signed executive orders to reduce inflation and reduce energy costs, but did not say just what they do.

I have a hunch that they consist of encouraging more fossil fuel extraction, and more pipelines to transport them, and ceasing to require more electric cars. That could reduce the price of those fuels, for some years, while making global heating worse in the medium term. In a decade or two, staying alive would become more expensive, and also less likely.

    RMS Talk in Kochi, India

Richard Stallman will give a talk in Kochi, India, Jan 27 at 11:30, at Jain University, as part of the Technology Future Summit.

    (See link for address information.)

    Managing natural disasters, US

The wrecker wants to abolish FEMA.

FEMA has a mixed record. Often it has been quite helpful. Sometimes, as when New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina, it was scandalously incompetent.

The US president then was a Republican, and seems not to have cared about people who weren't rich enough to do without FEMA's help.

    8:50p
    Earth's billionaires' Dangerous Donald

Billionaires even in Australia (and I presume everywhere else) are sucking up to him, asking for what will make the US a better "investment opportunity."

I urge Australians to elect politicians who will thwart those billionaires' desires, and make Australia a good place for all Australians to live in.

A billionaire whose loyalty the corrupter has bought is disloyal to per country.

Meanwhile, *toadying Brits finally come to realize [the corrupter] has no need of them.*

    Corporate religion VS Democratic party

About a book on the "reactionary nihilism" of the right-wing extremists that have seized control of the USA.

    10:37p
    Fast food minimum wage

California required large "fast food" chains to pay a $20 minimum wage, disregarding executives who predicted that would cause job losses. Indeed, no such result occurred.

It is indeed possible for raising the minimum wage to reduce employment. But executives have an interest in stretching the truth about this, so politicians should get their advice from someone who isn't biased against workers.

    10:37p
    Economic growth

It appears that Labour in the UK has chosen short-termism (prioritizing economic growth) over long tern survival (reducing greenhouse gas emissions).

The basic decision to reject taxing the rich tends to lead to a bouquet of short-term optimizations that dump the costs on climate disaster over the next few decades.

    10:37p
    Trump order abortion

The wrecker banned US support to foreign medical organizations that do abortions.

This rule goes far beyond removing US support from abortions in other countries. It also refuses support to organizations that perform a broad range of medical treatment unless they agree to stop doing abortions. Most of them refuses to be bullied, but the reduce is that the US boycotts their other medical activities.

    10:37p
    Safety net programs

*New Report Shows That Work Requirements for Safety Net Programs Fail to.*

To simplify the matter few people make a choice to forego working if they are poor enough to be eligible for these aid programs.

    10:37p
    Justice Department

The persecutor has ordered the Justice Department to investigate "weaponization of the federal government", which is ironic because that's exactly what this investigation is meant to do.
