Urgent: Petition to free Ozturk, op-ed writer
US citizens:
call
for freeing Rumeysa Ozturk: No one who writes a political article
should be arrested or deported for that expression of per views.
Side issue:
"Per" here is a third-person gender-neutral singular pronoun.
Please join me in using
gender-neutral
singular pronouns rather than plural pronouns such as "they"
when referring to a singular antecedent without specifying gender.

Suppressing human-rights defenders, UK
*An Afghan woman who risked her life to defend human rights [while
there] before fleeing to the UK has been told … it
is safe for her to return after [UK] officials
rejected
her asylum claim.*
Many other Afghan women who have fled to the UK recently
have got similar responses.

US relations undermined, SE Asia
*How [US economic warfare] tariffs could push Vietnam into
the
arms of China.*
There are so many ironies. South Vietnamese communist rebellion left
a corrupt dictatorship (still pledging allegiance to Communism), but
then the 2000-year old struggle against China reemerged. The conflict
with the distant US was temporary, while the threat from nearby China
was perpetual. So
that
dictatorship became an ally of the US, and has hosted US military
bases.
I am sure the general predilection of Vietnamese is to have
mutually-beneficial but not close relationship with the US. But harsh
harshness fro the US can make that impossible.

Urgent: Contact for Our Revolution
If you have a way to communicate with a person in the organization Our
Revolution, and are willing to help me make contact, please write to
me, rms, at the GNU domain (gnu.org).
I would like to donate to Our Revolution, but I can't find a morally
acceptable way to send the donation. The only way they publish is
through the web, and their payment system (as is usual on the web)
works by sending nonfree software to the user's browser. Running such
software is unjust and insecure, so I refuse absolutely — no
exceptions, not even for an organization that follows Bernie Sanders.
If I can reach anyone there, I will try to work out a way to donate by
check.
