Tall tales surround Mutek, so let's set the record straight. Narod Niki, the all-star laptop supergroup, did not include Karl Bartos. Deadbeat did perform on a tugboat last year in Chile — but he is not barred from US travel after dropping his latest album on ~scape. Be sure to check the disc out: unified in theme and tone, New World Observer draws as much power from eerie samples as pensive, creepy-crawly, dub-wise rhythms.
