| I am really missing something here... |

I have recently discovered that youngsters have a meme: "YOLO", which stands for "You Only Live Once". Although it is plainly true and, yes, sometimes it is good to remember of, the fun part is how do they use it. They use it as an excuse for all sorts of outrageous behavior, for mistakes and stupidity.
-- Why did you got drunk and nearly got killed by a truck? -- oh, man! YOLO! -- Why did you rape poor old lady N? -- YOLO! -- How could you lose all your money? -- YOLO!
This is totally incomprehensible -- what/how do they think when they toss "YOLO"? Well, i can understand the first part: drugs, crime, stupidity, etc -- one may desire and do outrageous things no matter how often. I set aside moral/legal/rational judgments, still I can not understand HOW is the "YOLO" an excuse??? -- one may say: "fuck off", "i don't care", "meh", and it could be a perfectly valid excuse. But "YOLO"!!! WHY?
-- Why did you burn your passport? -- Don't worry man! It was my only passport. -- Why did you kill you wife? -- She was everything I had in this life. -- Why did you saw off you leg? -- Coz i can not sew it back!
This world is building interesting reasoning schemes behavioral patterns...and probably motivations. |
