Sargassum belt polycrisis, CARICOM Enormous excesses of sargassum seaweed are choking coasts in the Caribbean, and emitting hydrogen sulfide gas, which is foul-smelling and even toxic in large enough amounts. The dangerous excess is partly caused by the large amounts of fertilizer runoff that humans' farms now release to the Atlantic Ocean. |
