On the footsteps of the much anticipated Headscan new album release, Artoffact Records introduces a two version cd single of the song Lolife, each with a different feel and mindset. One cd focuses on hard beats and dark grooves while the other single has a more experimental approach. Both singles feature the original version of Lolife plus added remixes by Interlace, Fractured, Headscan and Canadian newcomer Famine. The two cds also feature new and exclusive tracks of dark urban atmospheric soundcapes plus a video of the song Lolife at Elektra, Montreal's electronic arts festival. A video edit of the vocals recording session for the song Critical Mass is also featured on both cds.
Gritty and without compromise, the title song focuses its fierce energy on the subject of the murky morality of our elites and the indifference of the Slacker / Generation X lifestyle. The narrative hovers between crude sincerity and extreme parody, and Headscan always tries to keep from being judgmental and lets the listener draw their own conclusions.
Exclusive tracks to these cds, Critical Mass is a dark atmospheric soundscape with driving analog basslines reminiscent of the earlier works of the German electronic music pioneers Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze but with a modern twist and vision unique to Headscan. The song Concrete Insects is an experimental ambient piece constructed from electronic and real world sounds, insects in an urban surrounding, a metaphor for modern cityscape living.
