Две студентки Барда сбиты насмерть прошлой ночью
TIVOLI, N.Y. – Two Bard College students were killed Friday night while walking along Route 9G in what the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said was a hit-and-run accident involving a drunk driver.
Captain John Watterson said sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of the car/pedestrian accident Friday at around 11:50 pm. on Route 9G near Broadway and West Kerley Corners Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered two people dead at the scene and one person with non-life threatening injuries.
Watterson said that the preliminary investigation showed that a group of people were walking northbound on 9G just north of Broadway when three of them were struck by a southbound vehicle. Police said the vehicle then left the scene but was located by deputies a short time later.
The deceased were identified as Evelina Martin Brown, 20, of Seattle, and Sarah McCausland, 19, of Winnetka, Ill., both Bard students. Police did not release the name of the third victim, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested the driver of the vehicle, who they identified as Carol Boeck, 63, of Red Hook.They said Boeck was charged with felony DWI, a class E felony due to a prior conviction, and first-degree vehicular manslaughter, which is a class C felony <...>
