Они были расстреляны, а их тела - повешены.

События разворачивались здесь 29 апреля 1945г.
Шесть трупов были повешены за ноги на пролете бензоколонки ''Esso'': Бенито Муссолини, Клара Петаччи, Франческо Баррачу, Алессандро Паволини, Фернандо Меццасомма и Паоло Цербино. Затем к этой батарее тел добавили труп Архилле Стараче, который только что был задержан и тут же расстрелян на месте.

Толпа собравшихся ''зрителей'' стала бесчинствовать, желая выразить свой гнев на трупах. Когда собравшиеся вышли из-под контроля, полиция была вынуждена поливать их водой из брандспойтов. Затем находившиеся тут же американцы организовали захоронение тел казненных.

And then I realized they were stronger than we, because they could stand that these were not monsters, these were men... trained cadres.

These men who fought with their hearts, who had families, who had children, who were filled with love... but they had the strength... the strength... to do that.

If I had ten divisions of those men, our troubles here would be over very quickly.

You have to have men who are moral... and at the same time who are able to utilize their primordial instincts to kill without feeling... without passion... without judgment... without judgment!

Because it's judgment that defeats us.

Я не настолько продвинут, чтобы утверждать, что американцы всегда проявляют благоразумность.

А этот самый полковник, к примеру, утверждает что рассудительность приводит к поражению. По моему - он прав, и в боевых условиях эффективнее всего действуют присхопаты, которых на своей территории лучше не содержать.
