En mamma och hennes två vuxna söner döms till fängelse för att i många år ha ljugit om att den ena sonen varit svårt utvecklingsstörd. Försäkringskassan betalade ut närmare nio miljoner kronor i ersättning.
Family sentensed for benefit fraud of 9 million SEK (1M EUR)
Mother and her two adult sons are sentenced to prison for have during many years lied about the one son has been severely mentally disabled.
The "sick" son is sentenced to two years in prison for aggravated benefit fraud and benefit fraud of normal degree. The mother and the 2-year-younger son are sentenced to 3 years in prison, and he has been found guilty of fraud and blackmailing among other things. In total the case is about 8532520 SEK (950K EUR) of assistance reimbursement and 245005 SEK (27K EUR) in activity reimbursement.
The 32-year-old man has since fall 1999 played severely mentally disabled and together wit his other family members they have been able to convince both doctors and the Social security agency that he needed assistance and activity reimbursement of in total 100K SEK (11K EUR) per month. Films from shops and police surveillance showed however that he is fully functioning.
"The medical documentation shows that [the suspect] has severe mental disability. He cannot speak, only mumble occasional sounds", reads the Social security agency original decision based on a medical examination where is states that he is in a big need of daily nurse care, permanent supervision and exercise. First when at least 8 anonymous reports - the first already in 2001 - has come in, the case was reported in 2012, but the last payout was made as late as in January 2015.
The suspects are Slovakian citizens and have, according to supporting investigations, spent a significant time abroad during the period they received compensation from the Social security agency. It was Slovakian police who arrested them and have been able to witness that the allegedly sick man was completely free from mental limitations. A school rector in the home land has also certified that the man has never been sick the way it has been stated and the attached school grades are summarized with "good".
All have denied crimes and during interrogation has at least one of the men maintained that some relative with mafia connection has forced to this. Because of the statute of limitations for the crimes they go free for period until 2006. The shorter prison term for the 32-year old is because of "light mental disorder" that has done him an easy victim for others to abuse, reads in the court decision.
