Извините за вопрос, не совсем по теме - вы не знаете как американские государственые затраты на науку ( в смысле government funded grants, etc) соизмеряются с теми же затратами в других, скажем европейских странах? А то меня пытались убедить, что несмотря на разные "cuts" принятые Бушем, США все равно тратит на науку больше чем другие страны.

Physics spending to drop 4% in Bush administration proposal.

[WASHINGTON] US physicists are hitting out hard at the Bush administration's budget proposal for next year. They claim that the plan, which would cut overall spending on research in physics by about 4%, will imperil the country's global leadership in the discipline.
