Pavlis and her husband, Dino, testified that Alex's behavior problems worsened after he and his sister moved into their home. A pediatrician and expert on international adoption who reviewed Alex's records said the boy showed classic signs of fetal alcohol syndrome and post-traumatic stress disorder.
