Pan American Energy (PAE) is a company dedicated to oil and natural gas exploration and production activities in Argentina, Bolivia y Chile.
Between 2001 and 2011, the company:
- Invested USD 7.6 billion in its hydrocarbon exploration and production, the highest rate in the oil industry in Argentina.
- Expanded its market share: in 2011, the company produced 20% of daily oil production and 18% of daily natural gas production in the country.
- Increased 44% its oil production, from 80,000 to 114,000 barrels per day and 100% its natural gas production, going from 10,000 to 20,000 m3 per day.
- Increased its proved oil and gas reserves in Argentina. In 2011, the company recorded 1,393 million barrels of oil equivalent (70% oil and 30% gas).
- Maintained a reserve replacement rate of 175%, the highest in the Argentinean industry.

As of December 31st 2010, the net debt-to-capitalization ratio for Pan American Energy was 20% (net financial debt / total capitalization), and its total financial debt represented a consolidated EBITDA of 1,2x, and a Consolidated EBITDA / financial outlay of 13,9x.
Pan American Energy holds one of the highest international credit ratings for corporations in Argentina, according to Moody´s (Ba3) and Fitch (B+).
The Company has developed its investment activities by accessing to different financing sources, including bank loans, financing from multilateral agencies and capital market.
Moreover, during the 2001-2002 financial crisis, PAE continued paying off its debt at maturity, and - unlike other Argentine companies - did not suspend payment nor restructure its debt.
