A stupid off-by-one bug in system V init 2.86 code (OpenVZ bug #60), which leads to init process displayed as ini in ps/top/whatever output.
It took OpenVZ guys a day to do a patch for it.
It took Gentoo guys (Gentoo bug #110420) two days to fix it in Gentoo.
It took Debian guys (Debian bug #336172) three months to fix it.
Later Fedora Core 5 was released and I found out it suffers from the same bug, so I filed it about a month ago: FC5 bug #188160. We have yet to see how long time it will take Fedora guys to fix it. It took about a month to fix it.
And I have never heard anything back from mainstream guys (sysvinit maintainers). Well, at least, yet. Will send them another mail right now.
Update1: Yep, I wrote to Miquel one more time.
Update2 a.k.a. the power of blogging: in 4 hours after I wrote this, Bill Nottingham fixed the bug. If this blog is totally useless otherwise, it still makes sense just for this case.
